Crittendon announced in new role at Fordham University

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

Shari Crittendon, Kansas State University's vice president for legal affairs and general counsel, has been named vice president and general counsel by Fordham University effective Aug. 19.

Crittendon joined K-State in June 2020 to lead the university's Office of General Counsel. She served on the President's Cabinet and oversaw the legal services of all campuses and related entities of the university, including K-State Athletics and K-State Research and Extension.

"As I prepare to leave K-State, I reflect with pride and gratitude on the incredible journey we have shared over the past four years," said Crittendon. "Serving this esteemed institution has been both an honor and a privilege."

"During my tenure, I have been fortunate to work alongside brilliant and dedicated professionals who are unwavering in their commitment to excellence and the university's mission. Together, we have navigated complex legal challenges, safeguarded the university's interests, and supported its vision for a brighter future. I am proud of what we have accomplished and confident that the foundation we have built will continue to support K-State's growth and success. I will miss this place, but I will always look back on this time fondly," concluded Crittendon.

Crittendon and her team provide legal research, client counseling, internal dispute resolution, and litigation before state and federal courts and regulatory agencies. The office also provides policy review and development, and contract review and negotiation. In addition, Crittendon and general counsel staff advise and represent university administrators on complex issues such as discrimination, constitutional rights, employment law, First Amendment and other legal matters.

"Shari is a very effective general counsel who has led and represented Kansas State University well," said President Richard Linton. "I appreciate her service to K-State and wish her the best in her new role."

Details on a search for Crittendon's successor will be announced soon.
