Research Administrators Council meets July 9

Submitted by Laura Hohenbary

The Research Administrators Council will have its quarterly meeting in person from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 9, in Room 207 of the K-State Student Union.

The meeting will begin with updates from Office of Sponsored Programs, the Office of Research Development and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Participants will then have the opportunity to participate in the following roundtable discussions with an option to change tables every 20 minutes. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.

• USDA topics will provide participants an opportunity to ask questions and share lessons learned about submitting proposals to USDA-NIFA. The upcoming USDA-NIFA Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program will likely be a timely discussion topic. The group may also touch on other USDA-NIFA programs, USDA-NIFA specific requirements, and where to find USDA-NIFA's upcoming Requests for Applications calendar. Adassa Roe and Kim Pendell will host table discussion.

• The NIH table will offer several pivotal NIH updates, primarily serving as a platform for colleagues to exchange invaluable insights, best practices and lessons learned in both the submission of NIH proposals and the management of NIH awards. Amy Brusk and Ginger Biesenthal will provide information and lead discussion.

• The PreAward NSF roundtable will cover updates from the National Science Foundation and K-State's implementation of new requirements from NSF and will include topics such as changes in the 2024 PAPPG, use of common forms, updates from the NSF Spring 2024 Grants Conference, updated SciENcv guidance, as well as new NSF practices to request updated current and pending support for anticipated awards. Bailey Starns will provide information and lead discussions.

• Post-award topics will be about cost share and the deployment of a new Cost Share Q&A document. Jenna Bowman will be joined by Megan Webb and Mollie Robbins-Wint to lead discussions.

A virtual option will not be offered for this meeting. However, to accommodate those now working remotely on a regular basis, please note that future quarterly meetings will generally be held in person in January and July and offered virtually via Zoom in April and October.
