New notice of non-reappointment policy effective July 1

Submitted by Human Resources

Kansas State University has developed a new employment policy to align with the Kansas Board of Regents' (KBOR'S) recent notice of non-reappointment policy approved in January 2024.

The KBOR policy calls for non-tenured or non-tenure track faculty and unclassified employees across all KBOR institutions hired on or before July 1, 2024, to be given a maximum 90-days' notice of non-reappointment. The policy will be effective July 1, 2025, for employees hired before July 1, 2024.

K-State’s PPM 4050 Notice Procedure for Non-Reappointment details terms related to notice of non-reappointment, as well as the NNR process and policy exceptions. PPM 4050 and university handbook policies relating to NNR will both be used through July 1, 2025, until all employees are subject to PPM 4050.

Existing policies for tenured and tenure-track faculty remain unchanged. Tenured and tenure-track faculty are not subject to PPM 4050.
