If someone asked, you would probably not give them your password, and you'd be right not to share it.
As a top-tier research university with global impact, K-State is constantly on cybercriminals' radar. Universities are appealing targets due to their prominence, reputation and large network of connected individuals, much like major corporations or governments.
Throughout the summer, K-State has been making strides to enhance our cybersecurity practices and reduce our risk. This is an ongoing effort that requires your continued vigilance.
In the coming weeks, university workstations and devices will undergo security enhancements, including default and administrative settings changes. Your departmental IT support team will provide further details and information about the impact of these changes.
To enhance the security of our campus data and email environments, we will be implementing modern secure practices. This will involve deactivating non-current accounts and disabling email forwarding. Users who will be affected by this change will receive further details soon.
At K-State, we are committed to operational excellence, including best practices and standards related to cybersecurity. Keeping our computers and systems secure requires proactive action from all of us.
You can do your part by following cybersecurity hygiene guidelines, being up to date on training and being aware of suspicious activity on our network or in your inbox.
Thank you for being proactive in protecting K-State.
