Vickers to lead NACADA Consulting service
NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising welcomed Nathan Vickers to the executive office July 1 where he will lead the association's consulting services.
As associate director for NACADA Consulting, Vickers will oversee NACADA's institutional partnerships and consulting agreements in higher education.
"Nathan brings a wealth of experience in academic advising and deep knowledge of the association that will be invaluable to institutions," said Kyle Ross, NACADA executive director. "He is a powerhouse of enthusiasm and professionalism, and I am confident he will lead NACADA Consulting to a new level of success."
Vickers comes to NACADA from the University of Texas at Austin where he has more than 20 years of experience in academic advising.
During his more than 20-year career at the University of Texas at Austin, Vickers advised students in multiple academic departments, managed a team of academic advisors, revamped and created new materials for the College of Liberal Arts' advisory training program, coordinated and delivered professional development sessions, and worked closely with the director of advising.
"As a long-time member of the association, I have held many leadership roles and am so very excited to join the executive office," Vickers said. "I look forward to sharing my knowledge and positively impacting this profession, which I am so passionate about."
NACADA Consulting was officially launched at the association's annual conference in October 2023. Since then, interest in the association's offerings — Excellence in Academic Advising, Program Reviews, Outcomes of Academic Advising Surveys, workshops and more — warranted the creation of the associate director for NACADA Consulting position.
