Campus Creek Road and Petticoat Lane construction updates
Submitted by Division of Facilities
The city of Manhattan will close the entrance/exit of Petticoat Lane at the Manhattan Avenue intersection on Wednesday, July 17, as road construction continues. The road from the new roundabout to Petticoat Lane will also be closed. At the same time, the intersection of Bertrand Street and Manhattan Avenue will be opened. Bertand Street will be the only entrance to Campus Creek Road.
Parking lot A5 behind Justin Hall and parking lot A6 behind Dickens Hall will remain open. To access those lots, enter Campus Creek Road from the Manhattan Avenue intersection and take the third exit at the roundabout. From there you can park in the A5 lot, or continue through the lot to Bayberry Lane to access the A6 lot.
For safety reasons, during this phase of the construction, there will be no parking on the A5 exit to Bayberry Lane because large trucks will be passing through the area.
During the construction, the sidewalks on the south side of Campus Creek Road and the new Bertrand Road intersection will be open. In the coming weeks, granite pathways will be added.
Dumpster, cardboard bins and recycling cans will be placed behind Justin Hall on July 18.
New stoplights have been installed at Vattier Street, Lovers Lane and Bertrand Street along Manhattan Avenue. Currently, the lights are flashing. The city will install motion sensors next week, and the lights will be fully activated.
Large trucks and heavy equipment will be used during the construction. Follow the pedestrian detours during the closures and use extra caution when crossing streets. The new entrance into Petticoat Lane is expected to open the week of Aug. 5.
