Kim LeCompte named assistant vice president for HR talent strategy and engagement
Following a nationwide search, Kim LeCompte has been hired as assistant vice president of HR talent strategy and engagement, effective Aug. 18.
LeCompte will work closely with Chief Human Resources Officer Shanna Legleiter to develop and guide the strategic vision for human resources at K-State, leading the areas of talent acquisition, compensation and organizational effectiveness, talent and organizational development, and employee relations and engagement. She also will ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and university guidelines related to HR activities.
LeCompte comes to K-State from the University of Missouri, where she was interim director of human resources for the last year. Before that, she served as associate director and senior HR consultant. Prior to joining Missouri, she spent six years at Louisiana State University. Her higher education experience spans human resources, academic affairs, institutional effectiveness and research.
"Kim is a proven strategic leader with a great depth of higher-education experience and skills to help drive HR initiatives in support of our Next-Gen K-State strategic plan and operational excellence," Legleiter said. "She is highly collaborative and will provide exceptional support to our university stakeholders. I look forward to partnering with Kim as we continue to achieve many strategic initiatives."
LeCompte obtained a doctoral degree in education leadership and research: higher education administration at Louisiana State. She completed her master's and bachelor's degrees in biology at Western Illinois, and she also completed a bachelor's in accounting at Colorado State Global Campus. She holds several professional certifications, including senior certified professional, Society for Human Resource Management and SHRM Workplace Investigations Specialty Credential.
