Call for proposals in biological and life sciences

Submitted by Rachael Weiderman

Kansas State University will host the inaugural Biosafety and Biosecurity Summit on Oct. 10 and 11.

The Biosafety and Biosecurity Summit will provide faculty, staff, students, collaborators and the community with an opportunity to learn about and share emerging technologies in biological and interdisciplinary life science research. Educational presentations will be provided on biological safety and biological security topics relevant to academia and industry. In addition, Thermo Fisher Scientific will host a vendor fair for attendees to explore throughout the event.

We invite proposals for two topics:

  • Presentations and posters that explore innovative approaches to research in the biological and life sciences and the use of emerging technologies.
  • Presentations and posters that address topics and challenges within the biosafety and biosecurity landscape.

Proposals should focus on one or more of the following areas: life science research, emerging technologies in the life sciences, research safety and compliance for life sciences, and education in a biosafety or biosecurity topic. Students are highly encouraged to participate and present their research.

We are excited for creative submissions that engage the community in learning about topics in biological and interdisciplinary sciences and the work of the K-State community and collaborators. This call is open to K-State faculty, staff, students and collaborators; independent research organizations and industry professionals with relevant experience.

Please submit the call for proposals form by Sept. 13. Proposals will be evaluated based on their relevance to the summit, innovation and event capacity. The greatest capacity is available for poster presentations, where more limited slots are available for live presentations.
