Join Advisor Forum meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5

Submitted by TJ Duntz

This semester, the Advisor Forum is trying a new format for its meetings. The first meeting of the fall semester is Thursday, Sept. 5. The meetings will be a hybrid format with both in person and online options. Our presenters will all be on Zoom to more easily facilitate their presentations. We will have 2-3 speakers for the first hour of time and then the remaining half an hour will be reserved for discussion.

Based on feedback, there is a need for advisors to have discussions about things that are going well and things that are not going well in their worlds.

Amanda DeBlauw will lead the online conversation via Zoom, and Beth Stuewe will lead the in-person conversation in Room 407 of Hale Library. If you are on campus, we highly recommend you come to the in-person meeting location for a robust discussion following the meeting. This is our chance to share our thoughts and concerns not only with topics shared during the meeting but also with other problems you have encountered.

Please reach out to Beth Stuewe, bas9995@k-state.edu, or Amanda DeBlauw, adeblauw@k-state.edu, if you have questions.

The agenda for this meeting is as follows:

9:30 a.m. — Welcome and announcements

  • Leadership introductions
  • Open position — member at large — apply online

9:35 a.m. — Library E-Reserves — Mellissa Polston, course reserves coordinator
9:45 a.m. — Ashley Blake, advisor training administrator

  • Overview of Academic and Career Engagement office, including high-level information on the advisor training administrator position

10 a.m. — Bill Watts, associate vice president for academic and career engagement

  • Changes to KSIS Advisor Center

10:30 a.m. — Open discussion
