Carl R. Ice College of Engineering announces faculty and staff awards
The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering presented its annual awards to faculty and staff at its fall convocation on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The awards are designed to commend the dedication of the college's faculty and staff in support of its teaching, research, service and outreach programs.
Below are the 2024 winners:
Charles H. Scholer Faculty Award — Andrew Sneed, assistant professor of architectural engineering and construction science.
Clair A. Mauch Steel Ring Advisor of the Year — Krishna P. Ghimire, teaching associate professor of civil engineering.
Engineering Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching — Ryan R. Hansen, associate professor of chemical engineering.
Engineering Distinguished Researcher Award — Shuting Lei, professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering.
Engineering Staff Award of Excellence — Shana Bender, assistant director for the College of Engineering.
Engineering Team Awards of Excellence:
- Communications and Marketing — Kelsie Jones and Mandy Smith.
- Course and Curriculum — Shing I. Chang, Andrew M. Duncan, Krishna P. Ghimire, James F. Goddard, Rodney Howell, Trisha Moore, Garrett Peterson, Kevin Wanklyn and Lisa Wilken.
Frankenhoff Outstanding Research Award — Doina Caragea, professor of computer science.
Larry E. and Laurel Erickson Public Service Award — Mohammad H. Hosni, professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
Myers-Alford Memorial Teaching Award — Anil Pahwa, university distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering.
Outstanding Assistant Professor Award — Davood B. Pourkargar, assistant professor of chemical engineering; and Xiaolong Guo, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.
Robert R. and Lila L. Snell Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award — Kevin Wanklyn, teaching associate professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
Dean's Award of Excellence – Research — Melanie Derby, professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
Dean's Award of Excellence – Service — Katie Loughmiller, associate professor and acting department head of architectural engineering and construction science.
Dean's Award of Excellence – Teaching — Parth Panchmatia, assistant professor of civil engineering.
