Provost Lecture Series: 'Transforming the World through Education'

Submitted by Office of the Provost

Join us for an inspiring lecture through the Provost Lecture Series, "Transforming the World through Education," presented by Patrick Gyimah Awuah Jr., the esteemed founder and president of Ashesi University in Ghana. This speech is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Regnier Forum of Regnier Hall, with refreshments following the lecture.

As a visionary leader in education who is dedicated to fostering a new generation of ethical and innovative leaders in Africa, Awuah will share his insights on the transformative power of education and its role in shaping a better future.

After graduating with degrees in engineering and economics from Swarthmore College and an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, Awuah had a successful career as a program manager at Microsoft before returning to Ghana in 2001. There, he established Ashesi University, a nonprofit institution that emphasizes critical thinking, ethics and entrepreneurship. Under his leadership, the university has become a model for higher education in Africa, empowering students to effect meaningful change in their communities.

Awuah's contributions to education and leadership have been recognized globally. He has received numerous accolades, including the Order of the Volta from the President of Ghana and the prestigious WISE Prize for Education from the Qatar Foundation. Fortune Magazine named him one of the 50 greatest leaders in the world, and he is a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative.

Don't miss this opportunity to hear from one of the foremost leaders in global education.

The lecture will also be livestreamed on the Provost Lecture Series website.
