K-State sociology graduate student wins national award
Dylan Sears, a doctoral candidate in sociology, has been honored by the American Society of Criminology's Division on Critical Criminology and Social Justice as winner of its annual graduate student paper competition.
The paper, "Good Kid, Mad City: On the Political Meaning of Kyle Rittenhouse" provides a critical analysis of vigilante violence and Rittenhouse's nascent celebrity.
A native of Ramona, Oklahoma, Sears's doctoral research explores the commodification of tragedy through the memorialization and development of Tulsa's Greenwood District.
