Korten selected as fellow of Association for Women in Mathematics
Marianne Korten, professor of mathematics, was selected to the 2025 class of the fellows of the Association for Women in Mathematics, or AWM.
The Executive Committee of the Association for Women in Mathematics established the AWM Fellows Program to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the support and advancement of women in the mathematical sciences. The fellows program epitomizes the AWM mission: to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences. This class of fellows was selected from a stellar group of people who have shown extraordinary dedication to creating a more inclusive mathematics community.
The committee recognized Korten for her deep commitment to diversity and access in mathematics, supporting the diverse personal lives of mathematicians as students and faculty, helping us achieve success through AWM forums, online mentoring, regional advocacy and summer research programs.
The 2025 class of AWM Fellows will be celebrated at the AWM Reception and Awards Presentation at the 2025 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, Washington. The ceremony will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. The new class of fellows will be recognized via a press release and on the AWM Fellows webpage/newsletter.
