What's next? We've got you covered in planning ahead
Submitted by Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs
Even though the spring semester is just getting started, it's a great time to start planning ahead for what's next. Setting yourself up for fall 2025, or for life after graduation, takes a little bit of advanced planning. The Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs is ready to help you chart out your next courses or make the transition to graduate school or career.
- Make plans to meet with your advisor — All students are required to meet with their academic advisor at least once per semester. You're in the driver's seat of your academic career, so think of your advisor as your co-pilot who is there to help you navigate the course. Advisors help you enroll in courses, map out a plan of action, develop critical thinking skills and make decisions regarding your academic career. To connect with your advisor, log in to Navigate and locate the Resources button. Your advisor is listed under "People."
- Determine next steps for professional program applications — If a career in a professional field, such as law, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, dentistry, nursing or veterinary medicine, is of interest to you, connect with a pre-professional advisor. Separate from your academic advisor, a pre-professional advisor provides guidance and programming to students with a pre-professional designation. Find the Pre-Professional and Exploratory Advising Center in Room 114 of the Berney Family Welcome Center or email at ppac@k-state.edu.
- Enhance your career readiness — Don't fear what comes after graduation. The Career Center facilitates your career readiness so you can enter the next chapter confidently. Get free career assessments, job search training, career advising, employer connections and so much more. To get started, make sure you've set up your free Handshake account. Then, connect with the Career Center in the Berney Family Welcome Center to determine what resources can be of use to you.
