Undergraduate students selected as scholars for summer research

Fourteen undergraduate students were selected to conduct summer research and prepare for graduate school as part of the McNair Scholars Program. 

The scholars are: Biruk Alemu, political science; Meredith Caudill, psychology, philosophy; Jonathon Dennard, psychology, sociology; Mihwa Gassett, social work; Hank Hinojosa, wildlife and outdoor enterprise management; Layla Hood, park management and conservation; Shawna Logue, social work, addiction counseling; Noah McPherson, chemical engineering, physics; Madison Neal, agricultural communications and journalism, mass communications, natural resources and environmental science; Sunny O’Leary, psychology; Hector Ramos, mathematics education and mathematics; Dulce Reyes, animal sciences and industry; Michael Reichert, chemistry, animal sciences and industry; and America Zarate, fisheries, wildlife, conservation and environmental biology.

Scholars are currently selecting research mentors for their upcoming summer research internships. McNair Scholars will conduct research with a faculty mentor, write an article-length manuscript and abstract, present their research, participate in weekly seminars to prepare graduate applications and explore topics in professionalism.
