Students encouraged to submit 2025-26 FAFSA by K-State’s priority date of March 1

The 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid is open, and K-State's FAFSA Priority Date of March 1 is quickly approaching.

Except for international students, all students are encouraged by K-State's Office of Student Financial Assistance, or OSFA, to submit a FAFSA. The application is often the most critical step in allowing the office to review each student's eligibility for the widest array of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, work study and loans from federal, state and university programs.

As the name implies, submitting the FAFSA is free. To get started, students — and, if applicable, parents or spouses — will need to obtain an FSA ID if they don't already have one. The FSA ID serves as an individual's electronic signature when completing their portion of the FAFSA. The student will need to be sure to provide K-State's Federal School Code — 001928 — so that the federal processor can forward the resulting FAFSA information to K-State's OSFA. While this year's FAFSA submission has been smooth for most applicants, it can still be a tricky process. K-State has several resources available to help students and their families navigate the application.

• Wildcat One Stop in Room 119 of Anderson Hall is a student's go-to spot for student aid questions and assistance. Students can quickly connect with a knowledgeable staff member who will provide them with answers on how to complete the FAFSA.
• The Office of Student Financial Assistance's FAFSA site also contains a frequently asked questions section that provides ready answers to the top FAFSA questions that students and families have.
• Encourage students to check out K-State's financial aid field guides on YouTube or Instagram. These guides break down different financial topics, like myths about the FAFSA and the differences among various types of financial aid.
• When students encounter unusual circumstances or roadblocks in completing the FAFSA, the OSFA encourages them to connect directly with their respective student financial aid advisor. If students are unsure of who their financial aid advisor is, a look-up is provided at financial aid advisors.

Submitting a FAFSA is one way that students can invest in themselves and their college experience. All students — regardless of income or financial circumstances — should complete a FAFSA each year. They may be surprised by the opportunities that are made available to them as a result.
