Apply for new Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities grant opportunity

Submitted by Erin Pennington

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces a new intramural grant opportunity to support research, scholarly and creative activities across disciplines.

The Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, or DASH, Award is an annual program that provides a one-time, one-year grant of $10,000 to support faculty research, scholarly or creative activities. This includes but is not limited to empirical and theoretical research, applied design and development, scholarship of teaching and learning, writing of books, and producing art, poetry, music, theater and other creative works.

"This initiative reflects our commitment to expanding research opportunities across disciplines and ensuring faculty have the support needed to advance their work," said Hans Coetzee, interim vice president for research. "The DASH award program is designed to empower faculty by aligning institutional resources with individual and department-level research goals."

Faculty members interested in applying should follow the same guidelines as the University Small Research Grants program. However, DASH budgets may include up to one month of summer faculty salary.

DASH proposals are due by 5 p.m. Monday, March 3, and must be submitted as a single PDF to ord@k-state.edu. Questions about project eligibility should be directed to the Office of Research Development.

All proposals will be peer-reviewed, and awardees will be notified by early May. Award periods will begin on July 1, 2025.
