Update on the 2025 federal transition and executive orders

Submitted by Richard Linton

Dear K-State community,

Last week, executive orders and memorandums with the federal transition brought concern and uncertainty around funding for research and programs for some in our community. We know you have questions. We are working to find answers and communicate as quickly as we can. I am proud that leaders across K-State are working hard to address potential impacts and ensure momentum and progress toward our mission.

We continue to monitor the situation and understand it has been fluid and fast-moving. Much of the information we are learning is received in real time, just as you may hear it from media and other sources.

To help share what we know about impacts on research and other areas, the university has created a website that addresses executive actions affecting our university and all of higher education. While many answers are unknown, we are communicating what we understand to keep you informed. We will actively update this website as we learn more or confirm information.

As we continue to learn and adapt to the transition, let's celebrate our momentum in continuing our mission. Our enrollment is growing, our research is receiving more support and recognition, and we are extending K-State engagement further across our state.

As I shared at the beginning of last week, our teaching, research and engagement mission drives our purpose to do good for our students and the people of Kansas. As Kansas' land-grant institution, creating access to high-quality education and supporting the success of our learners are at the core of our mission. Supporting the success of all who come to K-State so everyone can learn, grow and thrive is who we are.

We are building on our momentum and embracing the opportunities ahead. We are continuing our mission and achieving progress because of your dedication. We are doing good because of your commitment and hard work, making our university the model for the next-generation land grant.

Let's continue to move our institution forward, setting the standard for learning, creativity, discovery and engagement that positively impacts Kansas and beyond.

Go 'Cats!
