Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, portrayed in Hollywood movie, to speak to K-State community

The 2015 movie "Spotlight" is based on a true story of award-winning journalism that uncovered sex abuse by Catholic priests. Under leadership of Marty Baron, portrayed by Liev Schreiber in the movie, reporters of The Boston Globe's Spotlight team earned a 2003 Pulitzer Prize for the story that led to reform in the Catholic Church.
K-State students, faculty, staff and general community have an opportunity to hear Baron at the university's 176th Landon Lecture at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, in Forum Hall of the K-State Student Union.
Baron, now executive editor for The Washington Post, supervises about 700 journalists. In addition to The Post and The Globe, he has led news teams at The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and The Miami Herald for a collective 11 Pulitzer Prizes, including a 2001 Pulitzer for breaking news reporting of a raid by federal agents to return Elián González to his Cuban father.
