Powercat Financial selects new Peer Financial Counselors and Student Advisory Board members
Powercat Financial recently selected new peer financial counselors for the 2017-2018 year.
Peer financial counselors assist students with their financial questions and college financial planning decisions, as well as provide free financial workshops and events for students. This is a unique on-campus internship opportunity for students studying in financial-related programs such as personal financial planning, business finance and accounting, agribusiness and economics.
The following students will serve as new peer financial counselors:
Victor Valdez-Herrera, Dodge City.
From Greater Kansas City: Alexandria Bangert, Gardner; Gretchen Holthaus and Abby Pope, Leawood; and Avery Bolar, Prairie Village.
Joshua Payne, Lyndon; Brandy Caulfield, Manhattan; Kaden Stein, Spearville; and Lyndon Breckenridge and Blair McGehee, Wichita.
From out of state: Garrett Hazlett, Burnsville, Minnesota; and Landon Warmund, Grain Valley, Missouri.
Thirty-six students also will join Powercat Financial's Student Advisory Board to support the mission of increasing students' financial capability.
The students will be responsible for marketing the financial services of Powercat Financial to fellow students and host interactive financial events throughout the year such as the annual Spring Break Not Spring Broke, Thrifty Gifting, Eating Healthy on a Budget, and Marriage and Money events. They also serve as Salt Ambassadors helping to promote the free online financial tool, SALT, created by American Student Assistance and sponsored by the university.
