K-State theatre professor to helm national musical theatre production
Submitted by Jerry Jay Cranford
Jerry Jay Cranford, professor in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, has been selected to direct and choreograph the Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute's production of "Young Frankenstein," the musical, in July.
Now in its 10th year, the institute auditions high school students from across the country who are then selected to live for a month in Hilton Head, South Carolina, as they rehearse and perform. Guest master classes are offered by working television and Broadway celebrities such as Laura Osnes, Will Chase, Roger Bart and Tituss Burgess.
The production will use the touring sets by Robin Wagner — Tony Award-nominated for his work — and costumes by William Ivey Long.
The production will perform July 29 to Aug. 6.
