Walk a Mile in Her Shoes registration now open
Join Counseling Services, the Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education, or CARE, and the Wildcat Wellness Coalition in the opportunity to raise awareness about sexual violence against women by participating in the event, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence.
K-State students, faculty, staff, community members and family are welcome to join the efforts in raising awareness on Saturday, April 13, on Bosco Student Plaza. Registration, events and other activities will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the start of the walk at 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to walk one mile in high-heeled shoes — but it is not required.
To register and gather route information, please visit the Counseling Services page on eventbrite. All proceeds go to the CARE office.
Frank Baird, the original developer of this event, wanted to create a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to men's sexualized violence against women. For additional information about the walk, visit walkamileinhershoes.org.
While this event focuses the conversation on women and engages men in dialogue that may be challenging, the intent is not to dismiss the experiences of other populations as it relates to sexual assault. This event welcomes, and encourages, participation from everyone who cares about this issue — regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression, or other held identities.
Event co-sponsors include CARE office, Wildcat Wellness Coalition, and PAWS certified peer educators
