Registration now open for March 21 'Art of Democracy' Engagement Symposium
The Office of the Provost, the Center for Engagement and Community Development, and several campus and community co-sponsors invite you to a day of presentations and performances that examine what we observe and aspire to in our democracy.
The 2019 Engagement Symposium will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the K-State Student Union
Following this year's selected theme, presenters from the arts, humanities and sciences will offer their distinct reflections on the literal and figurative "Art of Democracy."
Lynnette Overby, nationally awarded choreographer, educator and advocate for community arts engagement, will offer the opening keynote address. University of Kansas Professor Kevin Willmott, internationally acclaimed film director and Oscar winning co-writer of "BlacKkKlansman," will deliver the closing keynote.
A living history performance, visual arts exhibits, video, dance and several discussion panels will be featured in break-out sessions throughout the day. Attendees are encouraged to participate in workshops, policy forums, livestreamed interviews, and an engagement game.
All events are free but space is limited, and registration required for some sessions. Register early online.
