Pickering named associate director of music in School of Music, Theatre, and Dance

David Pickering, professor of music, has been appointed as associate director of music in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, serving a three-year appointment beginning July 18.
An active recitalist, recording artist, scholar and author, Pickering previously served as chair of the Keyboard Division. His career as a performer has carried him across the United States and to Austria, Canada, England, Finland and Germany. His performances have been broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio's Pipedreams, Iowa Public Radio, as well as organlive.com.
"I have truly enjoyed working among wonderful colleagues and students at Kansas State University over the past 14 years," Pickering said. "I am honored to serve the music program's constituents in this new role, and I look forward to building upon the exemplary work done by my predecessors as we look to an exciting and promising future."
Pickering's multifaceted research has focused on the composers, pedagogues, music and organs of the American organ scene in the 20th and 21st centuries. His four solo recordings have focused on the organ music of American composers from the 20th century to the present day. His scholarly works are published by the Organ Historical Society Press and Wayne Leupold Editions.
