Friends are not just friends
As we talk, I will use the word Friend to refer to the person who is experiencing heartbreak. A Friend can be a young child, a parent or grandparent, a client, a stranger. Note that the word Friend is italicized and begins with a capitalized F. This will alert you that the word refers to a special relationship with a person who is hurting and needs a kind response. In this sense, any person can be a Friend if we take the time to listen.
