Offer reassuring eye contact
We have two powerful tools, eye contact and physical touch. Both deserve caution.

Our eyes are the window to our souls. Eye contact can be very personal and powerful.

“A look is often the very soul of what one says.” Helen Keller

Effective eye contact punctuates and affirms what we say. It means conveying our interest and respect by looking at the person appropriately. With many individuals, establishing friendly eye contact when they tell us something personally significant is a sign of true interest.

On the other hand, some cultures view eye contact as aggression. If Friends are not comfortable with eye contact, we should respect that desire.
