We
pay attention to what confirms our beliefs
The second way our beliefs affect our experience of the world is
through their control of our attention. Think of attention like
a spotlight. Lots of things happen to us that never register because
the spotlight of our attention is directed elsewhere. Pay attention
to the pressure of the floor and the shoes on your feet. Those
sensations were always there, sending sensory signals to your brain.
You became aware of these sensations to your feet when your mind’s
spotlight was turned on them.
