Self-respect is “the real value ….”
Self-respect is an evaluation of our own integrity and honor. Integrity means acting consistently with personal standards of morality. Honor means acting with integrity during adversity and facing the risk of being consistent with our moral code.

Now you might be thinking, “Doesn’t the sociopath have a personal morality of self-interest? If they are successful in achieving self-gratification, don’t they have respect for themselves and their achievement?”
