If the teen’s peers begin to push him to take the drugs,
to use their power of persuasion, then assertion is standing up
and countering their use of power. So if they should say to the
teen, “C’mon, don’t be such a chicken. You can
handle it. We do it and so should you,” the assertive teen
might respond with, “No and that means NO! I’m going
home now.”
