Although there may be times when violence is necessary, violence is not an effective way of achieving power. Violence shows desperation. Violence is an end of the road strategy that demonstrates that self-affirmation, self-assertion, and aggression have not worked. Violence prevents dialogue and a discussion of alternatives to resolving a problem. Violence is a simple alternative rather than focusing on a more complex but effective solution.
