The answer is no. Children with lower heart rates were more helpful later. Why? A high heart rate is associated with self-preoccupation. These children felt anxiety for themselves when recognizing the danger faced by another child. Children who had lower heart rates were more engrossed in the child who was suffering. They were less preoccupied with themselves.
