Nancy Eisenberg, a researcher on altruism in children, found an
interesting relationship between heart rate and generosity.
She measured each young child’s heart rate while watching
a video where a child actor pretended to be hurt and in need
of help. Then she measured each child’s response in a
situation where they had an opportunity to help another. What
do you think was the relationship between heart rate watching
the video and helping? Were high heart rate children more likely
to help later? What do you think?
