Nancy Eisenberg, a researcher on altruism in children, found an interesting relationship between heart rate and generosity. She measured each young child’s heart rate while watching a video where a child actor pretended to be hurt and in need of help. Then she measured each child’s response in a situation where they had an opportunity to help another. What do you think was the relationship between heart rate watching the video and helping? Were high heart rate children more likely to help later? What do you think?
