Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA/ADAAA) How to Manage Accommodation Requests training offered Feb. 26

Submitted by Human Capital Services - Learning and Development

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA/ADAAA) How to Manage Accommodation Requests, WTD076, will be offered from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in 4061 College of Business Building.

The university is committed to creating an inclusive workplace environment for individuals with disabilities. A part of that commitment under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act, ADA/ADAAA, for supervisors is to initiate an "interactive process" discussion when an applicant or employee requests reasonable accommodations or become aware of the possible need for an accommodation.

The session will help participants:

  • Describe the interplay between essential functions, medical restrictions and reasonable accommodation under ADA/ADAAA.
  • Identify reasonable accommodation request and when it is appropriate to initiate an interactive discussion for such requests.
  • Interpret policy and procedures and discuss confidentiality, time frame and documentation.

This course is offered in conjunction with the Introduction to Supervision, WTD077, series. Seating is limited.

To register for this session, you can either sign up through HRIS Self-Service or send an email to Megan Hoelting at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID and the course title.
