Request funds to host your event at the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies
K-State Libraries' Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies offers sponsorship funding to campus and community programs that engage with themes of multiculturalism and diversity. Funds for events scheduled before June 30, 2025, are available by request through a form on the Dow Center website.
Are you curious about the types of programs the Dow Center supports? The following are examples of recently co-sponsored events:
- On Oct. 16, 2024, K-State First Book hosted "Author Talk with Nyle DiMarco," exploring DiMarco's memoir, which provides insight into his life and upbringing as a deaf person and member of the Deaf community.
- On March 8, 2024, the AAUW celebrated International Women's Day by assembling a panel of local international women to speak on the opportunities and challenges they experienced in coming to the U.S., cultural practices they continue to observe, differences women face in their home country versus the U.S., and thoughts on inspiring greater diversity and inclusion in the workplace and society.
- On April 10, 2024, the department of modern languages gathered to discuss and enjoy yerba mate at the "Yerba Mate with Carlos Hernandez and Friends."
- On April 26, 2024, the Global Engineers hosted "Asian Night Market at the Beach Museum of Art with Jackie Nguyen" to showcase the vibrant Asian culture across diverse Asian countries.
Sponsorship funds, which are used at the discretion of the dean of the K-State Libraries, are just one way the Dow Center helps deliver relevant programs and services that advance meaningful understanding and dialogue regarding multiculturalism and diversity.
