Professional development opportunities on Dec. 12 with Fulbright visiting scholar

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Nurmala Simbolon will present her research concerning English for specific purposes. Simbolon directs the language center at Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, a technical institute located in Pontianak, West Borneo, Indonesia.
Having been at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville for her first experience traveling and studying in the U.S., Simbolon will be making her first visit to Kansas, made possible by a grant from the Outreach Lecturing Fund.
The university community is invited to attend one or more of the following opportunities, which are free and open to the public:
- Thursday, Dec. 12, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Community ESL Presentation at the UFM House, QLC room, 1221 Thurston St.
- Thursday, Dec. 12, 3:30-4:30 p.m. — Vernon Larson Lecture, "English for Specific Purposes," in Room 4061 of the Business Building.
- Thursday, Dec. 12, 4:30-6 p.m. — panel discussion, "Experiences in the United States as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar," in Room 4061 of the Business Building.
