The College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Davis as the executive associate dean.

Davis previously served as associate dean of clinical programs since 2022. She will relinquish her role as department head of clinical sciences and will maintain responsibilities as the director of the Veterinary Health Center. An internal search for interim department head of clinical sciences will be initiated soon. Davis will maintain responsibilities to clinical sciences until an interim department head is identified.

Davis was appointed as interim head of clinical sciences in 2016 and became the department head in 2017. She was named director of the Veterinary Health Center in 2021 after serving as interim director since 2019.

“Dr. Davis has tremendous commitment to animal health and veterinary education as well as a tireless work ethic,” said Bonnie Rush, Hodes family dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. “She leads by example and brings energy, passion and professionalism to work every day. She will help us move the college forward in our missions of teaching, research, service and outreach.”

Davis joined K-State as an assistant professor of equine internal medicine in the clinical sciences department at K-State in 2003, she earned promotion with tenure in 2008, and was promoted to professor in 2013.

Davis is a current member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Association of Immunologists, American Association of Veterinary Immunologists, Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Association of Equine Practitioners and serves on the AVMA House of Delegates as an alternate delegate for the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians. She has previously served as a board member for the Kansas Horse Council, President of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and President of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians.

In May 2022, Davis was chosen as the recipient of the Presidential Award for Outstanding Department Head from Kansas State University. She was selected for the KSU Distinguished Service Award in 2015 by the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association for her work with veterinarians in Kansas. From the veterinary college, she was chosen as the recipient of the 2016 Dr. William and Deanna Pritchard Veterinary Service and Outreach Award, the 2010 and 2007 Mary J. Reed Equine Compassion Award and the 2007 Carl J. Pfizer Distinguished Teacher Award.
