Majors, Minors and More on Wednesday
Kansas State University's 2013 Majors, Minors and More event — formerly the Academic Majors Fair — will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Grand Ballroom at the K-State Student Union.
"Having the event in October gives students the chance to have follow-up visits with advisers in time to complete any necessary paperwork before enrolling for the spring 2014 semester," said Michael Lynch, K-State associate vice president for student life.
Last year, the fair attracted approximately 900 students. When surveyed, more than 95 percent of them said they would recommend this event to a friend.
"Our goal is to help students make connections with academic programs at K-State that will fit their strengths and lead to future achievements," said Michelle Haupt, coordinator of the Academic and Career Information Center and planning committee chair.
"When students are passionate about their major they are motivated to higher levels of success," Haupt said. "Each year it's exciting to hear stories of students who attend the event and find a major or career path that is a great fit. It is common that students will learn about a program or opportunity that they otherwise would not have known about had they not attended the fair. Students should make a point to stop by and check out all that K-State has to offer."
The Majors, Minors and More event features representatives from all nine K-State colleges. Individual departments and student services representatives will talk to students about academic majors, minors, secondary majors and career alternatives.
