Hamilton will join a discussion on performance and the cognitive sciences in Dallas
James R. Hamilton, professor of philosophy, will join a discussion on performance and the cognitive sciences at the American Society for Theatre Research annual meeting, Nov. 7-10, in Dallas.
Hamilton’s contribution is titled "Spectating: A Bayesian perspective." Whether a Bayesian approach to modeling spectating will be successful is largely an empirical matter. However, in his presentation, Hamilton explains why taking such an approach looks promising in light of several facts about the temporal constraints on the inferences it appears spectators must make.
