Mathematics Colloquium lecture today

Submitted by Reta McDermott

David Aristoff, University of Minnesota, will present "Mathematical Analysis of Accelerated Molecular Dynamics" as part of the mathematics department Colloquium lecture series at 2:30 p.m. today in 122 Cardwell Hall.

The abstract for the lecture is:

Discussing techniques for accelerating Langevin molecular dynamics in the presence of metastability. Showing how metastability can be understood and analyzed using the quasistationary distribution -- the solution to a certain PDE involving the generator of the dynamics. Then focusing on one such technique, called temperature accelerated dynamics. Using quasistationary distributions, we give a rigorous mathematical analysis of the technique.
