Roshanravan to deliver keynote address at conference on race, gender and class
Shireen Roshanravan, assistant professor of women's studies, will give the keynote address at the "No Limits" Regional Women's Studies Conference, at 11:15 a.m. Friday, March 7, in the NSU Ponderosa Room at University of Nebraska-Kearney.
The theme of this year's conference is "Intersectionality: Race, Gender and Class. Roshanravan's presentation, "Intersectionality, Integrity, and Coalitional Consciousness," will examine the relationship between frameworks that illuminate the way racial, gender, economic, sexual and colonial violence structure different contexts of struggle and the collective movement for social change that this awareness motivates. Drawing on her own theorizing of "passing-as-if" as a disingenuous maneuver towards women of color coalition, Roshanravan's keynote will focus on the concept of maintaining integrity as one seeks to enact resistance to intersecting structures of oppression.
