National Academic Advising Association Webinar Dec. 4
The next National Academic Advising Association webinar for the fall semester is "Strengths and Challenges for Academic Advising in Two-Year College Communities" at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, in the K-State Student Union, Room 207.
Sponsored by the association's Two-Year Colleges Commission, the association's past president Kathy Stockwell, retired from Fox Valley Technical College, returns to moderate our panelists as they delve deeper into the unique components of two-year college communities and the strengths and challenges encountered by advising professionals in these diverse settings. Strategies will be shared for utilizing strengths as we advise through the challenges.
Panelists are Amanda Hodges, assistant dean of student success and enrollment management at the College of The Albemarle, Edenton-Chowan Campus; Melinda Mechur Karp, assistant director for staff and institutional development at the Community College Research Center; and Beth Noreus, director of transfer and student advising at Bay de Noc Community College.
In previous Webinar seasons, association members have discussed "Critical Issues in Advising at Open Admissions Community Colleges" and "Defining the Role of faculty within Advising at Community Colleges."
