Author, filmmaker to guide discussion of local homelessness experts
The founder and president of HEAR US Inc., Diane Nilan, will be the moderator for a panel discussion of local experts on homelessness directly after the Community Cinema film "The Homestretch" at 6 p.m. Monday, March 30, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. Nilan is an author, filmmaker and activist who has produced "Crossing the Line: Taking Steps to End Homelessness," "My Own Four Walls" and "On the Edge: Family Homelessness."
The panelists from the university and the community will be Emily Wagner, director of the Manhattan Emergency Shelter Inc.; Cheryl McCormick, the McKinney-Ventor/Families in Transition service coordinator for USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden School District; Scott Jones, associate dean in the Office of Student Life at Kansas State University; and Pastor Patrick McLaughlin from the First United Methodist Church and co-founder of Manhattan's Everybody Counts activities.
