APDesign professor publishes new series of books
Peter Magyar, professor of architecture and former head of the architecture department at the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, or APDesign, recently published a series of books on freehand drawing.
"The Pen Zen Diaries" includes six books, each on a different architectural design that he completed. All are international architectural competition projects or designs for complex urban ensembles. Titles in the series include "Between Bridges: Design Studies of the Public Safety Building in Pittsburgh, PA"; "Consequential Deliberations: The Peak Competition, Hong Kong"; "Operation Paris: Paris Opera Competition"; "Angles and Oranges: Fine Art Building, Orange County Community College, CA"; "Hesitant Decisions: Sports and Cultural Center, Budapest"; and Multiple Horizons: Yokohama International Port Competition."
Together the books contain approximately 800 of Magyar's ink drawings, substantiating well his "Undead Drawing" lecture, which was delivered March 7 as the opening keynote presentation for the 700 attendees of the 11th International Architectural Convention in Budapest.
Magyar now has 10 books available on Amazon and at other booksellers.
