Adopt-a-School Project Bingo Night fundraiser on Nov. 6
The K-State Philippine Student Association, an official student organization, in cooperation with St. Thomas More Catholic Church, is hosting the annual Adopt-a-School Bingo Night fundraiser from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in Utopia Hall at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Ave.
Tickets are $6 each or two for $10 and include eight rounds. Free light snacks will be served from 6-6:30 p.m. while supplies last. For tickets, more information or to donate, email robeey@k-state.edu.
It will be a night to unwind, taste Filipino food, play bingo and win prizes for a good cause. Proceeds will be used to implement the Adopt-a-School Project in the Philippines.
The student association's Adopt-a-School Project aims to provide underprivileged Filipino students a year's worth of school supplies. Many of the students lack the funds to buy even the most basic of supplies like notepads, notebooks and pens. Most Philippine public schools are extremely underfunded and lack financial support from the government. Many students are forced to drop out before they graduate high school because of lack of funds.
The Adopt-a-School Project has been the outreach initiative of Philippine Student Association since 2005. Every year, the association carefully selects an impoverished school from the Philippines to adopt and endeavors to raise money through several fundraising activities throughout the year to buy much needed school supplies for school's young underprivileged students.
More than 1,000 students benefited from last year's Adopt-a-School Project fundraiser. Help us reach out to more students and have an impact in their lives.
