Wednesday is National Walk at Lunch Day

Submitted by Human Capital Services - Benefits

National Walk at Lunch Day is a great #PurpleIsProgress physical wellness opportunity.

Take the opportunity to make a healthy lunchtime decision by taking a walking lunch on April 27 as part of the 10th annual National Walk at Lunch Day.

National Walk at Lunch Day was created by Blue Cross and Blue Shield to help improve the personal health of employees while keeping your busy lifestyle in mind. Carving out a bit of time over lunch for a quick walk or other form of exercise, not only ensures you have some activity in your day but also allows you to break up your sedentary day.

Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise and, when done briskly and on a regular basis, 30 minutes of walking can:

  • Decrease the risk of heart attack and type-2 diabetes.
  • Control weight.
  • Improve muscle tone.
  • Reduce stress.

Participation in National Walk at Lunch Day is fun and easy. Join Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for a rally and walk on April 27 at City Park. The rally starts at noon and will be followed by a 30-minute walk on the park's trail.

The first 100 participants who stop by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas table at the event will receive a free  T-shirt.

If you are interested in walking over with some of your K-State family, a group will meet at 11:35 a.m. at Anderson Hall to walk to City Park. Bring your comfortable shoes and join us for some exercise and fun.
