Registration open for K-State/NACADA Advising Institute

Submitted by Steven Dandaneau

Reserve a seat online for this year's fourth annual K-State/NACADA Summer Undergraduate Academic Advising Institute, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, and the morning of Friday, May 20, in the Leadership Studies Building.

This year's institute will feature a keynote presentation by Brett McFarlane, director of academic advising, University of California, Davis, as well as additional plenary sessions on the development of a K-State advising syllabus, the summer school task force report, realignment of first-year experience programs, and SSC training. The institute also will feature break-out sessions on cross-unit advisor collaboration, tutoring, the honors program, pre-law opportunities, students of concern and pre-health advising. Research posters and unit table displays are also welcome. As always, two breakfasts and lunch on Thursday are included for free.

Many thanks to the Office of the Provost, Office of the Vice President for Student Life and NACADA for providing funding, and to the University Advising Committee and NACADA for their sponsorship. All K-State faculty and staff are welcome to participate. Please register by Thursday, May 12.

To present a research poster, reserve space for a table presentation, or with any questions, please email the University Advising Committee co-chairs Steve Dandaneau at dandaneau@k-state.edu or Carla Jones cjones@k-state.edu
