National composers' conference April 5-7

Submitted by Craig Weston

The K-State School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will host the Society of Composers Inc. 2018 Region VI Conference April 5-7.

Approximately 75 composers from around the U.S. will participate in the conference. Their music will be performed in a series of 12 concerts in All Faiths Chapel over the course of the three days. All conference performances are free and open to the public.

Composers were selected for participation by a national call-for-scores, which generated approximately 400 entries. The 75 selected pieces of music will be performed by K-State faculty and student performers, as well as several guest musicians, including the featured guest ensemble, newEar of Kansas City. NewEar will present the final concert of the conference at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 7, in All Faiths Chapel.

A complete schedule of performances can be found online
