Visiting Fulbright Scholar Amanda Keddie presents lecture today
K-State welcomes Amanda Keddie, 2018 Australian Fulbright professional dcholar from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. She serves as a professor of education in the Research for Educational Impact at Deakin, specializing in the field of social justice, cultural diversity, and schooling within Australian and U.K. contexts.
As part of the Oz to Oz program, Keddie's visit is presented by the College of Education; sociology, anthropology and social work department; Office of International Programs; Australian Fulbright Commission; and the Kansas State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering.
Keddie's public lecture, "Social Justice and Schooling," takes place at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 15, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. A Q&A session will follow.
Keddie is hosted by Susan M. Yelich Biniecki, associate professor in the College of Education's educational leadership department.
"Dr. Keddie's presentation will offer a framework for understanding and examining issues of justice and schooling in relation to three dimensions: political, cultural, and economic," said Yelich Biniecki. "Addressing these dimensions is central to fostering sustainable and transformative change in education."
