Open Cupboard this week
Have you been meaning to check the new centralized food pantry, Cats' Cupboard? Well now's your chance!
All faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in the Open Cupboard event, an open house for Cats' Cupboard, K-State's food pantry. Open Cupboard will take place during the regular student hours of operation, April 8-12.
According to pantry users, 63% indicated they learned about or decided to use Cats' Cupboard because a trusted person told them about the service. As such, this once-per-semester open house event is focused on increasing knowledge of campus and community resources, pantry services, location, promotion of word of mouth marketing, and a food drive to keep shelves stocked.
This year, we're partnering with the Wildcat Wellness Coalition and the Ag Student Council's Ag Fest 2019. Both organizations will host events this week. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, Ag Fest will host a "Donate for Dogs" hotdog event to support Cats' Cupboard. Look for it on the Fairchild Lawn.
To date, the Cats' Cupboard has seen more than 5,000 visits from almost 900 unique users since opening in September 2017 but we still need help spreading the word. Stop in, take a tour from a volunteer, donate if you're able, and enter the drawing for a chance to win great prizes. The cupboard is open to ALL students, staff and faculty, as well as community members.
Entries into the drawing will be given to each visitor, and extras if you bring a friend or make a donation. Free food at area restaurants, unique gifts from local stores and other items will be awarded. If you visited last Open Cupboard, come see how we've grown and learn about our new staff and faculty pantry. The weather should be nice, so take a stroll over.
