Submitted by Kathleen Greene

The McNair Scholars Program welcomed Dina Bennett as assistant director as of Jan. 14.  She is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the program activities and services that are designed to prepare McNair scholars for graduate education.

Bennett brings more than 10 years of experience in educational services and programming.  As both an ethnomusicologist and a student affairs professional, her academic and professional experiences span the fields of musical arts and nonprofit education and programming, as well as higher education and student affairs. With respect to the latter she has worked with undergraduate students, faculty, and administrators at Bethany College, Kansas State University and Indiana University, respectively in such capacities as teaching, advising, tutoring, academic counseling, mentoring coordinator, educational programming, organizational leadership, recruiting/admissions, and student life. Until recently she was director of education at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola, Miss.

Originally from Topeka, Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies from Washburn University, a master's degree in college student personnel services from Kansas State University, and a doctorate in folklore and ethnomusicology from Indiana University at Bloomington.
